Humans of Kangaroo will allow you to get to know the inspiring and hard-working folks who make sure that everyone has access to home security. As a global team of almost 100 ‘Roos, we’re currently spread out across four cities: New York, Wroclaw, Shenzhen, and Manila.

Today, we’re chatting with Jon from the Manila team!

  1. Tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you do.
Jon Dennis Cruz, Philippines, Senior Manager for CS & Inside Sales

  2. Which office are you at?
At home, in the space between the main door and the kitchen (it’s a small spaced home)

  3. How long have you been at Kangaroo?
    Since June of 2018

  4. What do you love about working for Kangaroo (or a start-up in general)?
I have a long list of items that I can share but if I have to focus on just one, it’s the people that I work with.

  5. Finish this sentence
Being in a start-up feels like I’m about to give birth to 100 kids, in the best way I mean.

  6. What does a day in your life look like?
It looks like playing a fast paced version of chess, against the older version of myself.

  7. Share one random fact about yourself.
    I’m a forever student.

  8. What’s been keeping you busy in this pandemic?
Aside from work, coming up with indoor activities for my kids.

  9. What advice would you give to your younger self?
More push ups! :) Actually, not more, just do push ups.

  10. Knock, knock. Your favorite person (or people)’s ringing at your Doorbell Camera. Who is it?
    It’s the pizza guy!

  11. If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would they be?
    My Dad.

  12. Any good podcast recs?
None. The last one I listened to is the one that featured my boss.

  13. Favorite emoji?
The upside down smiley emoji. It’s positively generic and unique at the same time.

THIS or THAT ?

  • City or nature?
City - there’s no fast food in the woods.

  • Delivery or sit down restaurant?
Restaurant - it has to be Mexican too

  • Night owl or early riser?
I don’t think this question applies to someone who works the graveyard shift. XD I just won’t be able to tell if it’s night or day, as far as my body clock is concerned.

  • Desktop or laptop?
    Laptop definitely.

  • Sand or snow?
Snow, because we don’t get it here in the Philippines. (except in the amusement parks)
